San Luis Obispo teen arrested on suspicion of homicide

A 19-year-old San Luis Obispo man was arrested today on suspicion of homicide in connection with the stabbing death of a teenager last week at Pismo State Beach Golf Course.

San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s homicide detectives arrested Michael Scott Clark Recio, 19, on January 7 on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale unrelated to the stabbing death.

He also faces charges of threatening a crime with the intent to terrorize, according to the Sheriff’s Department. . He was arrested today on suspicion of homicide. He is being held at County Jail.

Recio is accused of stabbing to death Roman Nicholas Bickford, 19, whose body was found at the entrance of the golf course at around 5 a.m. on January 7.

Recio had been questioned along with other acquaintances of Bickford’s before the arrest.

Details about why Recio is being considered a suspect in the murder are not being released, pending his arraignment.

Detective Bureau Commander Ken Conway said his team is continuing to investigate leads in the case. He is asking the public to continue to call the Sheriff’s Detectives’ Division at 781-4500 with any information that may be helpful in the investigation.
