Officials are looking into the cause of a structure fire that burned part of a single-story home in San Luis Obispo on Sunday.
The San Luis Obispo Fire Department says individuals on a walk reported seeing smoke at a structure on Buchon Street at 10:21 a.m. Firefighters arrived on scene and found a fire in the subfloor of the 1,000-square-foot home. The fire was brought under control within five minutes, and loss and damage to the home and contents was limited to approximately $10,000, according to a department news release.
The owners of the home were away at breakfast at the time of the fire, according to the release, and no injuries were reported.
The cause is under investigation, though the fire appears to have originated in the area of the home's 60-year-old furnace, according to the release.
