The city of Morro Bay is now officially a Bicycle-Friendly City thanks to a designation by the League of American Bicyclists, a coveted confirmation in the cycle-savvy Central Coast.
The city joins Paso Robles, Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo as the most bicycle-friendly cities in San Luis Obispo County.
According to the League of American Bicyclists, only 325 communities in the nation have received the award.
The League noted Morro Bay has a comprehensive bike plan, a connected bicycling network, an up-to-date bicycle map, a Citizens Bike Committee, Cops on Bikes and a bike coordinator position on city staff when making their award.
Morro Bay will now be listed on the organization’s website as an attractive bike-tourist destination.
Look for the new “Bicycle-Friendly Community” signs to be posted throughout the city soon.
