Ten positions are open on the South County Advisory Council, the volunteer organization representing the Nipomo area before the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors.
The SCAC will hold its annual election March 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Nipomo Community Services District building, 148 S. Wilson St. The council represents the South County area from Los Berros Road south to the county line.
The SCAC includes two elected representatives from seven geographical areas, as well as two special interest representatives.
There is one two-year position open in each of the seven areas, as well as one-year positions open in geographical areas one and four (visit http://scac.ca.gov to see the boundaries for each area).

The two-year agriculture representative position is also up for election.
Voters from each geographical area elect their own representatives, but the agriculture representative is voted at large.
Candidates must submit applications from Feb. 2 to March 2 to have their name placed on the ballot. Applications are available online, at the Nipomo district building and at the Nipomo Public Library, 918 W. Tefft St.
Completed applications should be mailed to SCAC Election Committee, P.O. Box 2355, Nipomo, CA 93444; e-mailed to Sue Cholakian at MikeSue2@aol.com; or presented in person to a member of the election committee prior to the start of a March 2 town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Nipomo district building.
At the town hall meeting, candidates may give three minute presentations on their background as well as answer questions from the audience.
