A rain dance took place by the dried-up Atascadero Lake on Saturday. The rain dance was performed “in homage to Mother Earth and in reverence to one of the Earth’s most precious and sacred resources — water,” according to a news release from the members of the Central Coast Center for Spiritual Living and the Atascadero Awakening Ways Spiritual Community. The 30-acre, city-owned lake dried up this year because of drought, and the city is waiting for rain to fill it up.
