A man killed in a crash early Sunday morning in Paso Robles has been identified by authorities.
CHP officials said Wednesday that Samuel Telles Sanchez, 32, of Paso Robles, was driving a Ford F-150 truck north on River Road just north of Experimental Station Road around 12:30 a.m.
The CHP said in a news release that Sanchez was driving too fast and failed to navigate a curve in the road. Traveling across the southbound lane, the vehicle went off the west side of the road and struck two utility poles, which were ripped from the ground.
The truck began to overturn but was stopped when it struck a large tree, crushing the front passenger compartment and causing fatal injuries to Sanchez.
The CHP is still investigating the crash but said that alcohol may have played a factor. Toxicology results are expected in coming weeks.
