A number of events will be held in San Luis Obispo County on Tuesday to celebrate Veterans Day, the national holiday set aside to honor all veterans who have served in the U.S. military.
“Faces of Freedom” Veterans Day Ceremony. 11 a.m. Tuesday. “Faces of Freedom” Veterans Memorial, Atascadero Lake Park near Charles Paddock Zoo on westbound Highway 41. This year’s event will include color guards, presentation of the 2014 Distinguished Veterans Award, presentation of “Quilts of Valor” by the Gold Coast Quilt Guild, bagpipe music, a historic military flyover performed by the Estrella Warbirds and a wreath-laying ceremony. Emy Bruzzo and the Atascadero High School Show Choir will perform. A tri-tip sandwich barbecue, sponsored by the Atascadero Kiwanis Club, will follow the event.
Veterans Day ceremonies hosted by Cambria American Legion Post No. 432. 11 a.m. Tuesday. Veterans Memorial Building, 1000 Main Street in Cambria. Post 432 Commander David Ehlers will officiate. An honor guard led by Dan Rivera will post the national colors, escorted by members of Boy Scout Troop 217. Melanie Gruber will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The Cambria Men’s Chorus, led by Randy Schwalbe, will perform. Bob Wilson, a retired U.S. Army colonel, will be the featured speaker. Local Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and the Cambria 4H Club will also participate.
Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will serve barbecued burgers following the formal program. A $5 donation is requested.
Los Osos Valley Mortuary and Memorial Park Veterans Day Program. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. 2260 Los Osos Valley Road in Los Osos. The ceremony includes music by San Luis Obispo County Band. 528-1500.
Veterans Day Ceremony on the Pismo Beach Pier. 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Pismo Beach Police Department Honor Guard will present the nation’s colors and fire a rifle salute to all those who have fought and died. 773-4382.

Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum special hours. In honor of Veterans Day, the museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at 801 Grand Ave. in San Luis Obispo. The museum is ordinarily open Wednesday through Saturday. 543-1763
The following services will be affected by Tuesday’s observance of Veterans Day:
• All libraries and federal, state, county, city and community service district offices are closed Tuesday.
• Post offices are closed Tuesday with no delivery, except express mail.
• No school Tuesday for kindergarten through 12th grade.
• Cuesta College and Cal Poly are closed, but the Cal Poly Kennedy Library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Stock markets are open. Bank closures vary.
• Trash pickup will continue with regular schedules.
• The Tribune offices will be open.
