Commuters planning a drive through eastern San Luis Obispo County on Highway 41 Wednesday will have to find an alternate route.
From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. the highway will be closed in both directions between the Highway 46/Highway 41 interchange in Cholame and State Route 33 in Kings County.
Caltrans officials say the closure is necessary to allow maintenance crews to perform guardrail repair, roadway shoulder improvements, pavement replacements, vegetation control and sweeping of the roadway.
Detours will be in effect in both directions. Northbound motorists may continue eastbound Highway 46 to State Route 33 to Highway 41, and southbound traffic on Highway 41 will be directed to State Route 33 to Highway 46.
Never miss a local story.
Caltrans said it will take about 27 minutes to commute the entire length of the 50-mile detour.
