Los Osos residents and the general public are invited this week to tour the site of the new Los Osos water recycling facility project, which is currently under construction.
The tour will take place Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m. It will be led by representatives of San Luis Obispo County. The visit will include an explanation of the construction and the facility’s features.
The work has mostly focused on grading, installing underground piping and building concrete treatment basins that will later be installed underground.
Construction is expected through March 2016, when the facility will be ready for sewer connections to about 4,800 properties in Los Osos.
Never miss a local story.
The new system will help reduce groundwater pollution and provide reclaimed water throughout Los Osos.
The work on the sewer has entailed building 49 miles of pipelines and resurfacing roads (ongoing through 2015), and will include the building of pump stations in limited areas until 2015.
