On Sunday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., everyone is invited to the Rios-Caledonia Adobe, 700 Mission St., to enjoy “bygone ways of bygone days” at the second annual Caledonia Days.
Along with a barbecue, volunteers will cook meals in old-fashioned Dutch Ovens over open fires, offering a delicious main dish and dessert for tasting.
Skilled artists and artisans will demonstrate crafts that were necessary to the DIY life of early days. The event is presented in an early day setting by Friends of the Adobes and Native Sons of the Golden West #150.
Vintage shop reopens
Never miss a local story.
Jackson’s Old & New vintage shop on 12th Street behind the Coffee Station recently closed for a time for a complete makeover.
Owner Sonja Jackson has reopened with many new items. She has added new old furniture, decorative items and other antiques and plans to add vintage fabrics. Store hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Save box tops
Lillian Larsen School is collecting Box Tops for Education. When buying groceries look for items with the logo. Clipped tops may be brought to the school or call the school at 467-3216 for someone to pick them up.
There is still time for veterans to be honored at the school’s Veterans Day ceremony. Call by Nov. 7 to participate.
