Mission San Miguel Archangel celebrates its 217th birthday with the annual Fiesta on Sunday, Sept. 21, from noon to 4 p.m. following the 11 a.m. Fiesta Mass. There will be a choice of barbecued chicken or beef with beans, salsa, salad and bread or a Mexican plate of tacos or sopas with rice and beans. All meals are $10 for adults; $5 for children. Entertainment will be provided by Monte Mills and his Lucky Horseshoe Band followed by Tres Amigos. There will be games for the children, face painting, a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction.
Last Sunday the Native Daughters of the Golden West presented a check for $2,500 to Mission San Antonio de Padua toward its restoration. Babette Smith represented the group at the 9 a.m. Mass. Mission San Antonio is being retrofitted and still in need of funds to complete the project.
Caledonia Days will take place Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rios-Adobe Caledonia.
