Unit 1 at Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant was returned to full power Sunday following a cleaning as well as scheduled maintenance on electrical equipment located on the non-nuclear side of the plant.
Over the weekend, plant workers cleaned equipment on Unit 1 that helps move power to California’s electric grid, the plant’s owner, PG&E, said in a news release. “The work can only be safely completed when electricity is not being generated,” PG&E said.
Such work is typically performed annually, spokesman Thomas Cuddy previously said.
Unit 2 went through similar maintenance in June.
