Hair and Nails Creations is now open next to the U.S. Post Office on Mission Street. Stylist Luz Palacios first opened her shop, Hair Creations, a few years ago on 13th Street. She is joined in her new location by her sister Cristal Palacios , who does nails. Their shop is painted a sunny, happy yellow that brightens up the whole block. Hours are: Monday, noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. For appointments, call 835-8438.

Fourth annual Rod Rally Car Show on Mission Street: Friday is Cruise Night from 6 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, cars will be on display with vendors and live music until 3 p.m. The show is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and San Miguel volunteer firefighters.
Lions Club Old Timers Picnic and Chicken Barbecue: Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. in the park on 10th Street. This is the first public appearance of the Pioneer Day royalty. Queen Dottie Reiff, her attendants and Marshall Ole Viborg will share their stories along with other pioneer residents. There will be gifts for the oldest man and the oldest woman attending and dinners are free for those 80 years and older.
Play Bingo tomorrow evening at the San Miguel Senior Center on east 12th Street, starting at 6:30 p.m. They play 10 games at 50 cents a card. Refreshments are served.
