Thursday is movie day at the San Miguel Library at 3 p.m. with popcorn. The library is next to the ballfield at the top of the hill on 13th Street.
On Friday evening, San Miguel Seniors host bimonthly bingo at the Senior Center on east 12th Street.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for 10 games at only 50 cents per card. Enjoy refreshments while you play. This Sunday morning, the monthly Pancake Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Since, for a sole proprietor, the easiest way to not end up going in to work during a vacation is to just give everyone a vacation at the same time, the Country Diner will be closed while Linda Mora takes a well-earned break for rest and relaxation.
Construction news: The Cisneros home on K Street, which was sold some years ago, is being thoroughly rehabbed. It’s so nice to see this old house, which dates back close to a century, being renewed rather than torn down.
Also, the property on 10th and L Streets is being developed. A wonderful old Victorian house stood there from early days until it was a victim of arson in the early 1970s while being refurbished.
On River Road just up the hill from the bridge, 12 new homes are planned on large lots.
We are growing and improving.
James King is now recovering at home in San Miguel. He is still not on his feet, but just being home is good therapy.
