The San Luis Obispo City Council will decide Tuesday whether it will place a measure on the November ballot to extend the city’s half-percent sales tax.
The ballot measure would extend a half-percent sales tax that city voters approved in 2006 with Measure Y. That tax is due to expire in March.
If voters approve an extension in November, the sales tax in San Luis Obispo would remain at 8 percent for eight more years.
Never miss a local story.
The council will also be asked Tuesday to establish a new five-member revenue enhancement oversight commission to serve as an advisory body to the council on the spending of Measure Y money.
The deadline to put a measure on the November ballot is Aug. 8.
