The San Miguel Library program is learning all about fossils at 3 p.m. Thursday. See and touch real and replicated fossils of prehistoric animals that once roamed SLO County. Next Thursday at 3 p.m., the librarian will show an animated movie.
The SLO Food Bank, San Miguel Lions and the library are providing free summer lunches for kids and teens from noon to 1 p.m. weekdays through Aug. 5 (except July 4). In San Miguel, the lunch site is the Community Building behind the library.
James King, who was seriously injured in an accident on Highway 101 a few weeks ago, is recuperating at the Bella Vista Transitional Care Center at 3033 Augusta St. in San Luis Obispo following multiple surgeries at Stanford Hospital for a fractured pelvis, broken sternum and ribs and a shattered tibia. His family church has opened a special account for him at Golden 1 Credit Union at Woodland Plaza II in the Wal-Mart Shopping Center in Paso Robles. The Pleasant Valley School Foundation will herald the start of renovating the old school building and grounds with a flag raising from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the Fourth of July. The building will be open with historical pictures on display along with the plans. When renovations are completed, the old school will be used to hold community programs and events. Refreshments will be served. The school is on 2030 Ranchita Canyon Road at Estrella Road.
Camp Roberts Historical Museum at Camp Roberts recently welcomed Sculpterra Winery and Sculpture Garden as a new corporate life member. In conjunction with the museum, a patriotic, military-oriented celebration will be at the winery at 5015 Linne Road in Paso Robles from noon to 4 p.m. July 4. For information, call 226-8881.
