The San Luis Obispo Police Department is seeking public safety volunteers to help crack down on crime.
The department wants to fill two positions in its Volunteer Patrol, according to a news release. Those volunteers will assist officers with tasks including tagging abandoned vehicles, removing signs from utility poles and changing batteries in Project Lifesaver bracelets.
They’ll also help with clerical work, graffiti abatement and traffic control during special events.
Volunteers, who must be at least 18 years old with no felony convictions, must pass a background check and be fingerprinted prior to placement.
