The San Luis Obispo airport reached 96 degrees Tuesday, breaking the former heat record of 95 degrees set on April 29, 1981.
Today's maximum temperature is expected to hit 94 degrees, according to PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey. The record high for April 30 is 94 degrees, set in 1996.
Little change in the weather pattern is expected through Friday.
Onshore winds will pick up Saturday, according to Lindsey, which will allow marine low clouds and fog to develop along the coastline and stream inland during the night and evening hours. Much cooler conditions are expected across San Luis Obispo County next week. Temperatures are expected to remain cool and below normal for early May.
