UPDATE 2:45 p.m. Thursday: A pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle while crossing a street Wednesday morning in Paso Robles has been identified as Cindy Dougherty, 60, of Paso Robles.
Dougherty was seriously injured in the accident on the 300 block of Santa Bella and remains at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara where she is listed in critical condition, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
Original story: A pedestrian suffered major injuries Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the street.
According to the Paso Robles Police Department, at approximately 7:24 a.m., emergency crews responded to a call of a traffic collision in the 300 block of Santa Bella.
An adult female was taken to a local hospital via ambulance, and her medical condition was not known late Wednesday morning. Officials are not releasing the identity of the victim or the name of the hospital.
Investigators initially determined that a vehicle traveling east struck the pedestrian mid-block as she crossed Santa Bella walking north.
The adult male driver of the vehicle was not injured and cooperated with investigator at the scene, according to a Police Department news release. His name is not being released.
Authorities said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
The investigation remains ongoing and further information is expected later in the day.
