The Oceano Community Services District will hold a special closed-session meeting Friday afternoon to discuss possible discipline or dismissal of its general manager — the eighth person in that position since 2007, including a few interim managers.
Lonnie Curtis, a civil engineer and former manager at several water agencies in California, was selected from a pool of five finalists in October.
Since then, the board has held a few closed-session meetings to discuss his performance, with the most recent evaluation on Wednesday. No action was reported out of closed session, board members said Friday.
Friday’s meeting starts at 4 p.m. at the district office, 1655 Front St.
Never miss a local story.
Since Mitch Cooney resigned from his permanent post as district manager in February 2007, the general manager spot has been filled by Arnie Dowdy, who held an interim seat; Patrick O’Reilly, who resigned after a year on the job; Kevin Walsh, who filled in as an interim manager; Raffaele Montemurro, who was hired in October 2009 and dismissed without cause in May 2011; Tom Geaslen, who was hired as an interim director and later made permanent before being fired for cause last April; interim manager Gary Keefe; and Curtis.
Curtis receives an annual salary of $126,000, plus a monthly $300 vehicle allowance and $75 cell phone reimbursement.
The district provides water, sewer, fire protection and street lighting services to more than 7,200 people in the South County community.
