A hearing for a Nipomo woman charged in a deadly texting and driving accident was postponed to March 20 so the judge could gather more information.
Marie Marguerite Coyner, 24, appeared in court Thursday so she could enter a guilty plea. She also was expected to be sentenced on the same day. However, Superior Court Judge Dodie Harman postponed the hearing so she could review legal issues related to the case.
Coyner is charged with two felonies, involuntary manslaughter and hit-and-run causing death, for a November 2012 accident that killed Christopher Corey Tietjen, 24.
Tietjen was walking on the right shoulder of Thompson Road in the dark when he was struck by a car. Coyner allegedly drove off and did not report the accident. Tietjen's body was found the next morning.
