An all-volunteer group called Celebrate Los Osos is asking local residents to submit their artwork as part of a special event in March to thank the construction workers who have helped build the ongoing sewer project.
The celebration will be March 25 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Red Barn at 2180 Palisades Ave. in Los Osos to mark the final stages of the pipe installations, which involved months of digging on community’s streets.
The event will include music by the Zongo Combo, as well as free hot dogs, soft drinks and a special cake.
Los Osos and Baywood Park residents are encouraged to share a variety of art forms that “interpret the experience of living in the construction zone,” according to Mimi Kalland, the organization’s founder. Paintings, drawings, photographs, poems, and sculptures all are welcome.
The workers have been highly visible around town operating dump trucks, backhoes, steam rollers, forklifts, diggers and pavers for the past two years.
