Authorities searching for a missing Nipomo woman announced Monday that they have discovered her body and are considering her death a suicide.
Maria de la Cruz Albarran Uribe, 41, had been missing since Jan. 30 and declared “high risk” due to a report of her being suicidal. Her abandoned vehicle was discovered at the Harford Pier in Port San Luis the next day.
According to spokesman Tony Cipolla, the Sheriff’s Office deployed its search-and-rescue team following the discovery of the vehicle and later its dive team off the waters of Avila Beach.
Her body was discovered by a passerby in a wooded area near San Miguel Street and Avila Beach Drive around 6 p.m. Sunday.
There were no signs of foul play at the scene, Cipolla said.
