Arroyo Grande police dispatch services have been temporarily relocated to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office while the city’s police station is remodeled.
Arroyo Grande residents should not experience any disruption of service, city officials said in a news release.
Emergency and nonemergency calls have both been rerouted to the sheriff’s communications center at 1585 Kansas Ave., off Highway 1 outside San Luis Obispo.
The rest of the Police Department staff will move the week of Feb. 24 to the Arroyo Grande Community Center at 211 Vernon Ave.
The Sheriff’s Office isn’t charging Arroyo Grande for use of its space, and Arroyo Grande employees will continue to provide dispatch services.
The Arroyo Grande City Council approved the plan in October, allocating $40,000 toward software upgrades and other items.
Fire-related dispatch services will move to the Grover Beach police dispatch center.
That move consolidates fire dispatch services for the communities served by the Five Cities Fire Authority.
