A nationally known mental health advocate and nonprofit executive will speak later this month about the stigma faced by people living with mental illness and their loved ones.
Keris Jän Myrick will be the keynote speaker at the fifth annual Journey of Hope mental wellness forum, Jan. 29 in Pismo Beach.
The free, county-funded event is hosted by Transitions-Mental Health Association’s Family Services and Peer Advisory & Advocacy Team and co-sponsored by the county chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Myrick is the president of NAMI’s national board of directors and president and CEO of Los Angeles nonprofit Project Return Peer Support Network.

The Journey of Hope forum will also includes a local resources and mental health services fair featuring representatives from more than 30 local agencies and county departments.
