The director of the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program was recently honored for her service by the staff at the San Luis Obispo Superior Court.
Teresa Tardiff, director of the CASA program, was honored in a surprise presentation at the courthouse Thursday, and was presented with a globe for her efforts.
CASA serves as an advocate for abused and neglected children within the court system. It also recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who help the children.
Tardiff, an attorney, began her association with CASA in 1985 in Santa Barbara, where she was an advocate to eight children.
Never miss a local story.
On Thursday, CASA also started a program to provide mentors for youths who outgrow the foster care system at 18. CASA is seeking volunteers for that program as well as volunteers to work with minors. For information, call 541-6542 or visit www.slocasa.org.
