The California Highway Patrol will close Highway 101 in both directions at Grand Avenue in Arroyo Grande starting at 11 p.m. Friday so that Pacific Gas & Electric Co. can re-string power lines that were knocked down Thursday night by a suspected DUI driver.
The closure is expected to last up to 30 minutes, according to a news release.
Drivers will be diverted onto city streets around the closure. Southbound drivers will exit at Halcyon Road and detour onto El Camino Real before re-entering the highway at Grand Avenue.
Northbound drivers will exit at Grand Avenue and detour onto Branch Street before re-entering the highway at Brisco Road.
CHP officers will conduct rolling breaks along Highway 101 to slow drivers as they approach the detours.
