A multi-agency team rescued a man with an injured foot on the beach below Spyglass Park in Shell Beach on Saturday, transporting him by surfboard, boat and ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, a Cal Fire dispatcher said.
County/Cal Fire received a call of an injured person on the beach below the beach bluff at about 12:29 p.m. Due to the difficulty of accessing the person from the top of the bluff, Cal Fire rescue swimmers put the patient on a longboard and paddled him out to a Port San Luis Harbor Patrol boat brought to the scene to assist in the rescue, the dispatcher said. The boat brought the person to the Port San Luis, where he was taken to a hospital. Information on the injury was not available.
Pismo Beach police assisted in the rescue.
