The two organizations are teaming up to present the local premiere of “Food Patriots” in October in San Luis Obispo.
In the documentary, Chicago filmmakers Jeff and Jennifer Spitz struggle to rethink their approach to food after their teenage son is sidelined by a food-borne “super-bug.”
“Food Patriots” will screen at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Palm Theatre, 817 Palm St. in San Luis Obispo, followed by a question-and-answer session featuring local food system experts.

Stacey Hunt, executive director of Central Coast Bioneers, will be joined by Jenna Smith, executive director of Central Coast Grown, and Hunter Francis, director of the Center for Sustainability in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at Cal Poly.
Admission is $10 general admission, $8 for students and film festival society members. Proceeds will benefit Central Coast Bioneers and the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.
