Three Los Osos residents were involved in a head-on crash on Los Osos Valley Road Tuesday morning that was allegedly caused by a drunk driver crossing into oncoming traffic.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., CHP responded to a three-vehicle collision on Los Osos Valley Road at Jacaranda Lane, according to a recent news release by the agency.
An investigation revealed that an alleged drunk driver, 26-year-old Ryan Carvahlo, made an unsafe turning movement in his 2005 Ford Focus from the westbound lane of Los Osos Valley Road into the opposing lane--crossing the double yellow dividing line.
The Focus collided head-on with 2006 Saturn Sedan driven by a 61-year-old female. The Focus then collided with another Eastbound vehicle—a 1999 Toyota Camry driven by another 61-year-old female from Los Osos.
There were no passengers in any of the vehicles, and all occupants were wearing their seatbelts, the release said. The victims names were not released.
The head-on collision victim driving the Saturn was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with major injuries including a fractured back, ribs and ankle.
The driver of the Camry was treated and released at the scene.
Carvahlo was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail for alleged felony driving under the influence causing injuries. His bail is set at $100,000.
