The San Luis Obispo Council of Governments has announced transportation infrastructure grants for Templeton, Grover Beach and Shandon.
The grants come from federal funds. The three projects are in their early design and environmental review phases.
$265,000 for the San Juan Creek pedestrian bridge in Shandon. The project will eliminate a safety hazard on the 260-foot-long bridge just south of Center Street by adding sufficient bridgewidth to accommodate sidewalks.
$200,000 for a Templeton-Atascadero Connector. The project will provide a separate right-of-way between the two communities designated for the exclusive use of bicycles and pedestrians with limited cross flow for motorists.
$66,000 for phase 3 of the Grand Avenue Streetscape Project in Grover Beach. According to officials, the project will encourage bicycle and pedestrian use, enhance safety, promote traffic calming covering West Grand Avenue from the western city limits to Highway 1 and from Fourth Street to Fifth Street.
