The Paso Robles Police Department has hired two new police officers, the department announced in a press release.
Officers William Marvos and Tyler Hammon will be appointed to their positions today at a 10 a.m. ceremony at the city’s Emergency Operation Center downtown.
The pair brings the department’s sworn officer count to 31.
Cuts to police staff in recent years have meant fewer special programs in the community, such as certain school and traffic efforts. By late 2011, the City Council allowed the hiring of officers back to the department's patrol division to bring the force up to 32 sworn positions, from the 26 it had at that time.
Last month, the department also formed its own two-man team for gang and drug enforcement.
