Free trolley rides will start Friday night to the Avila Fish and Farmers Market, held Friday evenings.
The free rides from designated bus stops in Avila Beach will continue throughout the spring and summer and help to ease parking concerns, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority.
Last year, more than 10,000 people used the trolley service, which is operated by South County Area Transit and remains free with support from the Avila Beach Community Foundation.
Riders can board the trolley every half hour starting at 4:30 p.m.; stops include the Avila Hot Springs at Avila Beach Drive and Ontario Road, the park-and-ride lot for the Bob Jones Trail on Ontario Road, Woodstone Marketplace off San Luis Bay Drive, Avila Beach Drive at First Street and the Port San Luis Harbor.
The last departure from the market is at 8:20 p.m.
Regular weekend free trolley services from the nearby Pismo Beach Premium Outlet Transit Center to Avila Beach start March 30. The weekend trolley service operates from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Those taking the trolley services can connect to RTA’s route No. 10 at the outlets in Pismo Beach. The route connects Santa Maria to San Luis Obispo and communities along the way. Go to www.slorta.org/avila for schedules and more information.
