The remains of a man found on grazing land in San Luis Obispo in July have been identified as those of a transient from Texas, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
William Grant Grable II, 51, is believed to have died from natural causes.
A person leasing the land discovered the partially decomposed skeletal remains in the water of a creek on the property south of Tank Farm Road and reported it to authorities on July 15.
It took the Sheriff’s Office months just to find the identity of the man. DNA samples were sent to the Department of Justice and to a national missing persons database. DNA from the remains was positively identified Monday.
