Bishop Richard Garcia headed a pro-life vigil of about 100 people as they walked through downtown San Luis Obispo holding candles Saturday night.
The marchers made their way to a local abortion facility and then to a “pregnancy support” center nearby, according to a news release from organizers.
The procession, led by the man who heads the Diocese of Monterey, held banners and signs. One read: “Pray to end abortion.” Another read: “Adoption is the loving option.”
The candlelight vigil is part of a series organized by the Catholic Church up and down the Central Coast in opposition to abortion.
Never miss a local story.
Before the march, Bishop Garcia held a Mass of “thanksgiving for the gift of life.”
There was a barbecue earlier in the day at Mission High School as part of what organizers call Respect Life Day.
