As organizers gear up for the California Mid State Fair, slated to run from July 18 to July 29 at the Paso Robles Events Center, they encourage the public to keep the following deadlines in mind:
- Friends of the Fair applications are due by 4 p.m. June 15. The annual volunteer program allows the public to help staff variousaspects of the fair’s operations. Participants must be age 16 or older or be supervised by a parent at all times.
- 4-H and FFA scholarships are available through the fair’s partnership with the San Luis Obispo County Foundation for Agriculture Awareness. The scholarships — 12 total at $250 each — will be awarded to youth who had a project in the fair last year and will have a project in this year. Applications post marked by June 22 must be sent to the agriculture foundation at 651 Tank Farm Road in San Luis Obispo or hand-delivered at the same address by June 29.
Also, rule handbooks for entering the fair's still exhibits and livestock competitions are now available at the fair’s administration office, 2198 Riverside Ave., or online at www.midstatefair.com.
