The Lighthouse Community Church at 13th and L streets is getting a facelift. Starting this week, the building is being sandblasted and repainted and the brickwork updated.
Pastor John Wheat says it’s about time. Donations were given to him to purchase the paint and to hire a lift to access the spire. Donations for the renovation and upkeep of the church are always welcome.
Pastor Wheat and parishioners are doing the work. Following the 2003 San Simeon Earthquake, the foundation was replaced, and plans are being made to update and improve the interior of the building in the future.
The Little White Church, as it has been known to San Miguel old-timers, was built in 1892 on K Street and later moved to its present location. Pastor Wheat invites all to attend services. Sunday school, including youth ministry and adult bible study, starts at 9:45 a.m. The Sunday service is at 10:30 a.m. A prayer meeting is held at 10 a.m. Wednesdays.
Never miss a local story.
