The San Miguel Advisory Council advises the county Planning Department and the Board of Supervisors on issues relating to land use, public services and community growth. Council members are elected by the registered voters who live within area boundaries, which include the town of San Miguel south to Wellsona Road, west to Camp Roberts, east to part of Independence Ranch in Hog Canyon and north to the Monterey County line.
Members must live within boundaries and be registered to vote. At the next meeting, at 7 p.m. on May 30 at the community center on K Street, nominations will be taken for the seats of four members and two alternates. Those whose terms are ending are: Denis Degher, Tom Banish, Jean Hoffmann, Gary Davis, Sharon Brower and Noel Carpenter. Candidates must attend both that meeting and the June meeting, when elections will be held.
