A Fresno man was arrested Monday after allegedly leading Pismo Beach police on a high-speed chase on Highway 101.
A resident called police at 6:20 a.m. to say his vehicle had just been stolen, according to a news release from the Pismo Beach Police Department. Officers spotted the vehicle driving northbound on Price Street. When they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off onto northbound Highway 101.
Officers followed the vehicle, and speeds during the chase reached more than 120 mph.
The suspect, later identified as Shane Calhoun, 23, lost control of the vehicle and crashed on Highway 101 north of the Avila Beach Drive off-ramp, according to police.

Calhoun, who was on parole, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and felony evasion of a police officers. He was booked into County Jail on a no-bail parole violation.
