Five employees at Atascadero State Hospital have reportedly been attacked at the facility since April 4, according to emails by hospital spokesman Craig Dacus.
Two patient-on-staff assaults reportedly took place April 4 and 5 and three patient-on-staff attacks allegedly took place between April 12 and today.
Additional details on the types of employees involved in the attack, whether they were injured or if the attacks resulted in arrests were not disclosed.
Last week, Dacus said that the facility was working on The Tribune’s requests for addition information on the April 4 and 5 attacks, but as of Monday no additional details were relayed by Dacus other than to say that additional attack reports were filed since April 12 after an inquiry was made.
The information on recent attacks is the result of checks by The Tribune on violence at the facility, a high-security state hospital in southeast Atascadero that treats mentally ill inmates from the correctional system and other violent offenders.
