The San Miguel Electric Light Parade was a big success!
During the afternoon, Santa rode through the neighborhoods in a vintage fire truck visiting local children.
At the chili cook-off, tasters donated $5 for a chance to vote for their favorite recipe out of 14 entries.
Net proceeds of more than $200 were given to the school by the volunteer firefighters.
Never miss a local story.
A large crowd watched and cheered as floats, marchers and horses lit up the town.
Parade winners received beautiful hand-made trophies. First place went to the San Miguel Lions Club, second place to In Cahoots Equine Drill Team, and Willie Montgomery took third place with his light- and toy-covered 2001 Harley Davidson.
Honorable mention was given to Lillian Larsen School and Dos Hermanos Restaurant. Trophies may be picked up at the San Miguel Community Services District office.
Following the parade, a large parade of children headed to Santa’s place at the district office. Go to the Discover San Miguel website at www.discover sanmiguel.com to see photos of the event.
