Que Pasa Mexican Café, a Bakersfield-based restaurant with locations in Tulare and Visalia, is set to open its fourth restaurant in Atascadero’s Colony Square at 6905 El Camino Real.
“The restaurant is about 98 percent ready,” Que Pasa owner Baldo Cisneros said. “We should be open in the next two weeks.”
A staff of 20 employees has been hired and is being trained to work in the restaurant, he said.
Cisneros opened his first Que Pasa Mexican Café about 12 years ago next to a theater in Bakersfield.
Never miss a local story.
Since then, he has opened three more restaurants, all of which are near movie theaters. When the space next to Galaxy Theatres in Colony Square became available, Cisneros said he knew it was the right location for his next endeavor.
“We always knew we wanted to go to the Central Coast,” Cisneros said. “We know that’s where a lot of people from the Central Valley vacation, so we thought we’d give another restaurant a try and we wanted to open up in Colony Square.”
Que Pasa serves traditional Mexican food as well as dishes that Cisneros said have more of a modern twist. The restaurant also features a full bar with more than 100 varieties of tequila.
If things go well in Atascadero, Cisneros said he would like to open a fifth restaurant in San Luis Obispo.
He declined to disclose how much he has invested in the Atascadero location or his company’s annual revenue and earnings.
