Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes.

9:27 p.m. July 24, flagpole in Pismo Beach
A man with a stuffed monkey was talking about Roswell, N.M., and Area 51. He was carrying a bag with cans in it. The man walked up Pomeroy Avenue, then came back and started biting and beating the monkey. The man then put the monkey in the plastic bag and was wandering around between the public showers and restrooms.
Disturbing the peace
7:41 p.m. July 25, 2935 Augusta St. in San Luis Obispo
A resident said there were loud children in the driveway that is shared with the neighbors.
Surf’s not up
8:27 a.m. July 28, 3050 Broad St. in San Luis Obispo
A surfboard was found in the field near Utopia Bakery.
12:36 p.m. July 28, 955 Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo
A man was sleeping on a sofa in the lobby of the Anderson Hotel.
12:49 p.m. July 28, 2128 Cypress St. in San Luis Obispo
A resident’s car was wrapped in Saran Wrap.
A woman scorned
8:25 p.m. July 28, 500 block of Cypress St. in Pismo Beach
A man said he and his girlfriend broke up the night before, and he just received a picture on his cellphone of his smashed guitar.
9:49 p.m. July 28, 86 La Gaviota in Pismo Beach
Someone said the lights in her house shut off randomly. When she checked outside, the breaker box was open. Officers checked the area but found no one.
5:15 p.m. July 29, 1445 Broad St. in San Luis Obispo
Someone was repeatedly ringing a resident’s doorbell and shouting, “Is anyone home?”
1:24 a.m. July 30, 692 Marsh St. in San Luis Obispo
A man was drinking a beer inside 7-11.
10:54 a.m. July 30, 275 Madonna Road in San Luis Obispo
Someone called 911, said there was someone sitting by the stop sign and then hung up.
