Former Cal Poly wide receiver Dominique Johnson said he is signing an undrafted free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound former UCLA transfer said he is traveling to Minnesota today to finalize the deal.
Johnson, who was a senior during the 2010 season, went undrafted during the seven rounds of the NFL Draft in April, and because of the league's labor unrest was unable to sign with a team until the players and owners ratified a new collective bargaining early this week.
Johnson led the Mustangs in receiving each of the past two seasons.
He caught 43 passes for 741 yards and six touchdowns in 2009, highlighted by a 13-catch, 273-yard game against South Dakota where he scored a school-record five receiving touchdowns. This past season, Johnson totaled 47 catches for 634 yards and four touchdowns.
