Pismo Beach police are looking for a man who took money from the cash register of a local smoke shop.
The suspected burglary took place in May when the man came into the Pismo Beach Smoke Shop at 891 Oak Park Blvd. and appeared to be looking for the front desk clerk, calling out to him and checking around the store, surveillance video shows.
When the man didn’t receive a reply, he approached the front counter and looked at the register several times before reaching over the counter and pressing the button that released it open.
He took an undisclosed amount of cash and left the store, police said.

The clerk told police recognized the suspect, stating that he comes in on a monthly basis.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Steve Weir at 773-2208.
