A San Luis Obispo nonprofit organization has received a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Cal Poly Arts will use the Access to Artistic Excellence grant to help fund this year’s La Guitarra California Festival, a three-day festival of classical and contemporary guitar music.
The biennial festival, which runs Sept. 9 through 11 in San Luis Obispo, features performances by more than 20 artists including Pepe Romero and the San Francisco Guitar Quartet.
In a news release, Cal Poly Arts Director Steve Lerian said the grant “validates our belief that La Guitarra California will fulfill its goal to be one of the most prestigious and successful events of its kind in the country.”
Never miss a local story.
Cal Poly Arts has been presenting performing arts productions since 1985.
Elsewhere on the Central Coast, PCPA Theaterfest in Santa Maria received a $15,000 NEA grant to support its production of “My Fairytale,” a musical about famed storyteller Hans Christian Andersen.
