Motorists can expect up to five-minute delays starting next week as crews work to widen the Highway 101 overpass at Traffic Way in Atascadero.
The Highway 101 on- and offramps will be closed in both directions at Traffic Way to make way for the construction. A 10-foot outside shoulder will also be added.
Work is set for 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, through July 1.
Various intermittent lane closures on Highway 101 in Atascadero between 9 a.m. and noon may also occur.
Motorists traveling in both directions can exit at the Highway 41 interchange by taking the Morro Road offramp.
The bridge work is another phase in the Highway 101 Atascadero Rehabilitation Project, in which crews are repaving 11 miles of highway from north of the Cuesta Grade to Traffic Way in Atascadero.
Caltrans will also widen bridges at Santa Margarita and Atascadero creeks and resurface the on- and offramps at Santa Margarita, San Diego Road, Santa Rosa Road, Curbaril Avenue, Highway 41 and Traffic Way.
The contractor for the $25.3 million project, expected to wrap up in spring 2012, is Papich Construction of Pismo Beach.
