A San Luis Obispo man was arrested Friday on suspicion of drunken driving after crashing a pickup truck into a creek, injuring two passengers, police say.
Around 5:12 p.m., police and firefighters responded to a report of a crash near the 3500 block of Sacramento Drive, near Orcutt Road in San Luis Obispo. They found a 1995 Ford pickup in the creek west of the road with two people inside, according to a news release.
Witnesses told police they saw the driver run from the scene. During the investigation, officers found Ian Welker, 36, who was determined to be the driver of the pickup. He was under the influence of alcohol, according to the news release.
Welker was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing great bodily injury. He was booked into County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The other two people in the truck were taken to French Hospital Medical Center; one person suffered leg and hip injuries, and the other had facial abrasions, according to the news release.
