A white male wearing a mask and wielding a revolver handed a note demanding money to a teller at Heritage Oaks Bank in Morro Bay just after 3 p.m. Friday, Morro Bay police Chief Tim Olivas said.
The mask made the robber appear old, police noted.
The robber, who escaped, was last seen walking south on Main Street. Police described him as being just under 6 feet tall with a medium build, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses. The man may have left the scene in a cream-colored two-door sedan.
The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. Police are still investigating the robbery.
Friday’s robbery might have been committed by a bank robber known as the “Geezer Bandit,” police said. The bandit has robbed numerous banks in California.
Heritage Oaks Bank, on Morro Bay Boulevard, was also robbed in March 2009.
Anyone with information about the robber is asked to call Morro Bay police at 772-6225.
