Home sales and the median price of houses in San Luis Obispo County rose in April compared to a year ago, according to the most recent figures from DataQuick, a Southern California-based real estate information firm.
Sales of all homes — new and resale single-family detached houses and condominiums — increased 9.5 percent in April from the same month a year ago. A total of 266 homes were sold last month, up from 243 in April 2010. That’s down nearly 4 percent, however, from March when 277 homes were sold in the county, DataQuick reported.
Meanwhile, the all-home median increased 0.7 percent from April 2010. The median price last month was $357,500, up from $355,000 the previous year. The median also increased 3.5 percent from March 2011 when it was $345,000.
The median price is the statistical point at which half of homes sell for more and half for less.
